President Bola Tinubu has been urged by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, or MACBAN, to apprehend and prosecute Igboho, also known as Sunday Adeyemi, an agitator for the Yoruba nation.
According to MACBAN, Igboho should be subject to the same legal protections as Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, should he be detained and charged with a crime.
The request was made by Baba Othman Ngelzarma, National President of MACBAN, in response to Igboho’s statement that Fulani herders ought to be driven out of the Southwest.
After being imprisoned in the Benin Republic for nearly two years, gboho recently returned to Nigeria and claimed that Fulani herders were murdering farmers in the Southwest. Ngelzarma, however, characterized Igboho’s statement as treasonous and illegal.
We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and relevant security agencies to apprehend and prosecute Sunday Igboho for making this illegal statement that amounts to treason because he is calling for the actualization of Oduduwa nation. Ngelzarma signed the statement that stated as much.
“His remarks are illegal.
We fail to see why Sunday Igboho should escape arrest and prosecution if Nnamdi Kanu is to be imprisoned for a comparable crime.
