On Tuesday (today), the Super Eagles will start getting ready for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The majority of the 25 players selected for the competition are anticipated to arrive in the Asian nation from their various bases located throughout Europe.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has given the quartet—Samuel Chukwueze, Francis Uzoho, William Troost-EKong, and Umar Sadiq—permission to play for their clubs today. Nevertheless, they will reunite with their colleagues in camp on Wednesday.
In order to refine their tactics in advance of the 2023 AFCON championships, the Super Eagles will spend a week in Abu Dhabi.
On Wednesday, January 10, Jose Peseiro’s team will arrive back in Lagos before leaving for Abidjan the same day to compete.
The hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau are drawn in Group A alongside the three-time African champions.
On Sunday, January 14, the Super Eagles will play their first game of the season at the Alssanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, against Equatorial Guinea, another West African nation.
Four days later, Nigeria would play the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire, at the same location.
On Monday, January 22, they will conclude their group stage campaign against Guinea-Bissau.
