Nigerian Government To Start Distributing Of Grains To All States

As authorized by President Bola Tinubu, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, led by Senator Abubakar Kyari, says it will start distributing 42,000 metric tons of grains to the 36 states of the federation this week. According to Kyari, in order to make sure the grains reach the right people in the appropriate quantities and packages, the Ministry is collaborating with the Department of State Service (DSS) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). He announced this on Monday through a post on his X handle.

The minister also announced that 58,500 metric tons of milled rice from large rice millers would be added to the market to help stabilize it. “I sincerely sympathize with those impacted by the nation’s hardships during these difficult times. I am aware of how serious the situation is, particularly in light of the regrettable food warehouse looting incident. I want to reassure you that despite these difficulties, we are steadfastly committed to your wellbeing. As one of the initiatives to be launched this week, we will start distributing 42,000 metric tons of grains—as authorized by the President—distributed among the 36 states of the federation.
