He delivered a speech on Thursday at The Punch’s 50th anniversary lecture, “Recovering the Narrative.” Oyinka pushed for closeness between the people and the government.

It’s about time leaders stopped leading us astray so that the government could become more accessible to the general public, claims Soyinka.

“The nation is breaking informally; we don’t want it to break. Allow nations to perish so that people can survive. Using the word “restructuring” bothers me. When they are not in office, politicians are aware of these terms; however, once they take office, they adopt new terminology. “That is
