Job Summary

We’re on the lookout for a creative, detail-driven, and experienced Pop Culture Social Media Manager to join our Instagram team.

In this role, you will be at the heart of our social storytelling—spotlighting trending content in pop culture, politics, and human interest that resonates with both our local and international audience.

• A track record of boosting engagement (especially on Instagram)
• Strong photo/video editing capabilities
• An eye for visually engaging storytelling
• The ability to stay ahead of trends and breaking news in real time

Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage daily content around trending news, pop culture, and human interest stories on NotJustOk’s Instagram
• Respond swiftly to breaking news and viral trends—especially on nights and weekends
• Edit posts for grammar, accuracy, and readability
• Ensure content is published quickly and remains timely
• Shoot and edit short-form videos optimized for social media
• Monitor online trends and adjust strategies to grow engagement
• Write attention-grabbing headlines, captions, and hashtags
• Analyze content performance to improve future results
• Collaborate with editorial, content, and marketing teams
• Stay current with platform algorithms and best practices
• Brainstorm and pitch content ideas with the creative team
• Work with the sales team on branded content strategies
• Fact-check and ensure credibility of all published material
• Maintain NotJustOk’s brand voice and editorial standards

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (preferred)
• Solid understanding of journalistic ethics and standards
• Demonstrated experience in social media content creation and engagement
• Proven ability to identify and curate trending stories
• Proficiency in tools like Canva, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro
• Strong aesthetic sense and attention to visual details
• Deep knowledge of African music, youth culture, and digital entertainment
• Exceptional writing and communication skills
• Familiarity with analytics tools like Instagram Insights and Facebook Analytics
• Comfortable working independently, under pressure, and in team environments

Preferred Experience

• 3–5 years in social media management or editorial roles (especially on Instagram)
• 3–5 years of experience in digital journalism
• Background in music, entertainment, or digital publishing is a plus

Compensation

💰 ₦300,000/month (Negotiable)
Final compensation will be based on experience and performance.

• Weekly team syncs for creative collaboration and progress updates
