We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Field Assistant / Driver
Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 2-year renewable
Duties
- Drive and maintain the Units vehicle under optimum condition in readiness for on and off station activities.
- Perform necessary cleaning and washing of the Units vehicle.
- Ensure vehicle documents are complete and update at all time.
- Support trial establishment and maintenance both on and off station.
- Support tuber quality phenotyping for yam trials.
- Support phenotyping of yam plants at vegetative, harvest and post-harvest stages in the field and screen house.
- Support harvesting of trials on the field and screen house
- Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
- National Diploma in Agriculture or any other related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience on clonal breeding in a well-structured environment.
Competencies:
The ideal candidate must:
- Have excellent interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational and communication skills.
- Be competent in sample preparation for virus indexing.
- Be strict observance of protocol for genetic purity of yam in-vitro plantlets under conservation.
- Have ability to work in a cross-cultural and multidisciplinary environment.
