Dejumo Lewis, an aging Nollywood actor, passes away at age 80

On Saturday, the actor Saheed Balogun announced his passing on his Instagram profile, @saidibalogun.
Sharing a photo of the deceased Lewis, Balogun wished him a good night and hoped for eternal peace for his soul. RIP.

The Village Headmaster, Nigeria’s longest-running television soap opera that aired on NTA from 1968 to 1988 and starred Justus Esiri and Femi Robinson among others, is credited to Dejumo Lewis, a Nigerian actor known for his work in both film and television.

A few actors also paid their respects to the departed in the post’s comments section.

“Oh wow!,” wrote Funsho Adeolu. May the soul of an icon rest in peace. He has departed.

“May heaven be pleased with him 🙏,” added Mustapha Sholagbade.

“Oh my God,” veteran Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey added to his writing.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” Akin Olaiya remarked.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” Kunle Afod murmured.

Eniola Badmus also penned the word “Awwwwwwww.”

The curator of art, Raphael James, stated on Facebook: “Good night, ‘Kabiyesi.’ The ‘Kabiyesi’ we all knew growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, Sir Dejumo Lewis, who played the lead role of ‘Kabiyesi’ in ‘The Village Headmaster,’ the longest-running television soap opera in Nigeria on NTA 1968–1988.” He endures.
