From January to December, the Oyo State Police Command seized 50 vehicles and arrested 207 individuals in armed robberies.
This was said by SP Adewale Osifeso, the State Police Public Relations Officer, during a Friday briefing for reporters at the command’s headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.
According to Osifeso, during the time under review, 46 motorcycles and tricycles, 108 weapons, and 721 rounds of ammunition in various calibres were recovered from suspected criminals.
According to the spokesman, all area commanders, divisional police officers, and other law enforcement officials have been instructed by the state commissioner of police, Mr. Adebola Hamzat, to deploy sufficient manpower and resources to combat crime.
“All area commanders, divisional police officers, and tactical commanders are instructed by the CP to enhance the supervision levels of their subordinates, especially the troops on the field who deal with commuters and other civilian populations on a daily basis.
“Any officer whose actions or inactions bring about embarrassment to the command through extortion and other misconducts has been tasked with dealing decisively with the command’s monitoring and x-squad units,” the commander stated.
