Two people have been taken into custody by the police, one of whom is the chairman of the local government, in connection with a purported plot to kill Aondona Hycenth Dajoh, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly.
This was revealed by Force spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Monday.

Investigations, the statement said, revealed that the LG chairman had reportedly contacted a militia to kill Dajoh.
The statement stated, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the Local Government Chairman allegedly contracted a militia with the sinister intention of eliminating Hon. Aondona Hycenth Dajoh, Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly.”
“Upon receiving credible intelligence regarding the planned assassination, the operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) sprang into action,” he continued.
“At present, both suspects are detained by the police and are actively assisting the authorities in the ongoing investigation.
“The Nigeria Police Force is steadfast in its dedication to maintaining public officials’ and citizens’ safety and security.”
He promised that the full force of the law will be applied to both suspects.
