First Lady Supports Sextuplets Financially

In addition to writing off the mother’s medical expenses and other costs, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has donated N500,000.00 in urgent financial support. The mother gave birth to six babies earlier this week at the National Hospital in Abuja using in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

The First Lady’s delight at the safe delivery of the six babies—four girls and two boys—after a 13-year wait by the parents, who are natives of Ohaozara LGA in Ebonyi State, was conveyed by the Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Barr Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, who was making the presentation to the family on her behalf.

In addition, the Minister gave away cartons of NAN babies’ milk along with other baby supplies like feeding bottles, pampers, and wipes.

The Minister announced that in addition to the financial support and medical bills, including incubator charges, which will be covered by the Federal Government, they will monitor the development of the babies and their mothers until the point at which they are discharged from the hospital.

The Minister was accompanied to the hospital by Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, the chairman of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development. “On the day of their hospital discharge, I will personally oversee their growth and accompany them home; the Federal Government will cover all medical costs, including those associated with the incubator. Additionally, we’ll figure out how to support the family through the PBAT Cares E-commerce program for the mother of the babies by the time she leaves the hospital” she added.

Similarly, the chairman of the House Committee expressed his gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and administration of the National Hospital for providing the mother with outstanding care and attention during her pregnancy, keeping her under observation for three months prior to the babies’ delivery.

“I am impressed by the level of expertise and medical attention the mother got from the Doctors and Nurses, I also congratulate other women who delivered safely in the same hospital,” the chairman said. Mrs. Precious Ifeanyi, a first-time mother, was extremely happy after waiting 13 years for her baby, who was delivered at 30 weeks via caesarean section.

She claimed that at birth, she discovered that the babies were actually six instead of the quintuplets she had anticipated. She revealed that she had looked forward to having children after getting married on April 3, 2010.
“My husband, a clergyman, and I have spent a great deal of money on our 13-year search for a child, but to no avail. That hasn’t been simple since then, though. We anticipated having children, but they never showed up.

We spent money and traveled a lot, but we got nowhere, so we decided to wait on God’s timing, Mrs. Ifeanyi remarked.

“In His boundless mercy, God came to us, and now that He has, the story has been altered. It is quite frustrating to invest money on something and have it not materialize. My spouse and I visited numerous locations without result, kept asking for recommendations, and spent money on prescription drugs.

Professor Mahmud Raji, the hospital’s chief medical director, also spoke. He expressed his personal joy at the safe delivery of the sextuplets after months of constant observation, guidance, and medical care.

He said that while the hospital treats patients with a variety of health issues, it handles each case uniquely. “Our aim as a medical institution is to put smiles on peoples’ faces and we are trying our best with the support of the Federal Government to attend to their health needs,” he said.
In addition to the couple, other patients in the same ward who also had kids were given financial support by the Minister.
