The Release Of 102,000 Metric Tonnes Of Grains For Human Use Has Been Approved By President Tinubu
To increase the amount of food available in the nation, resident Tinubu has approved the immediate release of 102,000 metric tonnes of maize and rice from the National Strategic Food Reserves.
Following a meeting of the Special Presidential Committee on Emergency Food Intervention on Thursday, February 8, the Hon. Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, briefed reporters at the State House.
In order to supplement supply, the Minister further stated that the government was prepared to import any shortages that might occur following the distribution of the food products.
The Minister also issued a warning, stressing that in times of emergency, prompt action is required to ensure that food is available to Nigerians. The government will take appropriate measures against anyone found to be storing food goods.
