In the past seven days, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, or NNPCL, claims to have discovered no fewer than 83 illicit refineries in the Niger Delta.
This was revealed by the NNPCL on their X account on Tuesday.
In the same time frame, the business claims to have found fifteen illicit pipeline connections.
“In the Niger Delta, 83 illicit refineries and 15 unauthorized pipeline connections have been found in the last week.
The corporation reported that “83 illegal connections were spotted in the states of Rivers, Abia, Imo, and Bayelsa.”
It further stated that between January 6 and January 12, 2024, 211 instances of oil theft and damage were reported.
