On Thursday night, unidentified gunmen broke into the Koro community in Kwara State’s Ekiti Local Government Area, killing General Segun Aremu (rtd), the town’s king, and kidnapping his wife and two other people.
The incident’s confirmer, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, denounced the Olukoro of Koro’s death, calling it senseless, horrible, and abhorrent.
He gave the security authorities strict instructions to utilize all available means to find the offenders, release the spouse and any other people who had been detained, and prosecute them.

“We will undoubtedly apprehend those responsible and guarantee that this will be their final transgression against humanity,” the Governor declared, extending his sincere sympathies to the residents of Koro.
He made the following statement in Ilorin on Thursday night: “Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always.” It was sent by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye. Police officers have started their investigation concurrently with the start of the victims’ search and rescue mission.
The source further revealed that the late monarch’s palace is now home to the Divisional Police Officer overseeing the area.
The neighboring towns of Irele/Oke, Ako/Ipao/Oke Aiyedun, and Ikole in Ekiti State are Koro community in Kwara State.
Three monarchs were recently attacked in the Ekiti communities; two of them were gunned down by the attackers, while the third managed to flee.
