APC, Tinubu gained election through deception; currently, the government is perplexed – Segun Showunmi

Segun Showunmi, a former national chairmanship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organization, claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu, the party’s nominee in the most recent presidential election, are bewildered as a result of their election-rigging.

He claimed that the current state of affairs in the nation is due to the President’s bewilderment.

He made his remarks on the sidelines of the party’s annual celebration in Ogun State on Saturday.

“They are confused now that the APC has manipulated them.” Nothing is operating as it should. Right now, life is truly intolerable. Living expenses are too expensive. It’s excessively high in inflation. People aren’t able to control exchange rates; they are just generally unhappy. They are unable to handle naira. We hear reports of people being slain every day about how they were powerless to stop it.

“They have united into a party of destitution, a gathering where they only attend to offer sympathy, an aimless and unfocused group,” he remarked.

Ladi Adebutu, the PDP candidate in the most recent election, was charged with leaving the nation due to claims that he had purchased votes in the gubernatorial contest on March 18.

However, upon his return, he showed up at the state’s police headquarters, made his statement, and departed.

But Showunmi insisted that his party cannot be intimidated and accused the APC of trying to scare the PDP.

“It is challenging for adversaries in Nigeria, and those currently in power will stop at nothing to make it more difficult for the adversaries.” We have thus come here today to declare our support for our party and the candidate who ran for governor of Ogun State in the most recent election, and to refute the unfounded rumors that have been circulating. Thank God, all of that is behind us now that he has appeared before the police.

“But, it is sufficient to say that a climate of bullying cannot support democracy. In the sixteen years that the PDP ruled this nation, I do not recall us harassing the opposition, and they ought to quit doing so. We are not the type of people who are easily intimidated or subdued,” he continued.

Atiku’s former spokesperson also mentioned his desire to run for the PDP’s national leadership, pointing out that the organization needs a paradigm change.

A twenty-five-year-old political party needs to examine itself so that it may correct its mistakes, gather fresh perspectives, and set itself apart from all other parties. It also needs to run in a fair, impartial, and inclusive way. People are expressing a desire for Otunba Segun Showunmi rather than merely a chairman. I’ll do everything in my power, and if the leaders and students so choose, we’ll conduct an insightful tenure that represents a radical change from our previous situation.

“Chairman, every other zone has completed it, and it has now gone even beyond. It’s about who can lead the party with the necessary zeal, aptitude, persistence, intelligence, and competence,” he declared.
