The abducted students and faculty of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Emure, Ekiti, have been released. Their release was announced on Sunday morning by Sunday Abutu, the spokeswoman for the Ekiti State Police Command. Regretfully, it was discovered that the driver had not lived.
The abductees were taken on Monday night along Emure – Eporo Road, and it is reported that they were freed in the early hours of Sunday.

After school, they were on their way back to Eporo when the tragedy happened. After firing shots at the bus, the assailants took nine people hostage, including three female teachers, five kids, and a driver, before releasing them.
The parents and relatives of the abducted students and staff from Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Emure, Ekiti State, were given the assurance by Governor Biodun Oyebanji that they would be rescued and reunited shortly.
