OnFriday,atleast190recentlyhiredofficersofKwaraState’sNigeriaSecurityandCivilDefenceCorps,orNSCDC,concludedarigoroussix-monthtrainingprogram. CommandantUmarMohammed,theKwaraStateCommandantoftheNigeriaSecurityandCivilDefenceCorps,spokeattheceremonyandurgedthe2023intaketorespecthumanrights,maintainthehigheststandardsofdiscipline,andobeythelaw.
AyoolaMichealShola,thecommandspokesman,statedinastatementthatthepurposeoftheevent,whichtookplaceonSaturdayinIlorinandcoincidedwiththeannual“InternationalCivilDefenceDay”onMarch1st,istoincreasepublicawarenessofthevalueofemergencypreparednessandcivilprotection.
ThedirectoroftheNSCDCstressedthatthepurposeofthisyear’scelebration,whichhasasitstheme“HonorHeroesandPromoteSafetySkills,”istorecognizethevitalrolethatcivildefenseplaysinprotectingpeoplefrombothman-madeandnaturaldisasters.
