Serie A: Napoli Captain Supports Osimhen’s Choice to Attend CAF Awards

Napoli’s captain, Giovanni De Lorenzo, supported Victor Osimhen’s decision to travel to Marrakech, Morocco, on the eve of the team’s UEFA Champions League clash against Braga.

Osimhen had traveled to Marrakech on Monday to receive his Men’s Player of the Year award at the CAF Awards 2023.

Despite this, the 24-year-old swiftly returned to Naples after the ceremony and was included in the starting line-up for the match against Braga at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Nigerian forward notably scored Napoli’s second goal during the game.

“Traveling doesn’t necessarily lead to tiredness. It was an important prize, and it was right that he went to collect it,” Di Lorenzo commented as per Napoli Magazine.

“I’m focused on what he contributes on the pitch and in training. No one has ever questioned his dedication and attitude. Just observe it. I’m pleased that he’s back to scoring; it holds significance for him.”
