The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, shared in a video played at the homecoming reception ceremony for the recently recalled Nigeria High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sharafa Tunji-Ishola, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, that Jesus Christ might return to the world on a yet-to-be-known October 1st.

Ishola, a former Minister of Mines and Steel who was appointed as an Ambassador by President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2021, was recalled by President Bola Tinubu on August 31, 2023.

In his goodwill message during the reception, Pastor Adeboye commended Ishola for being the first ambassador to extend an invitation to the Nigeria House in the UK.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit the Nigeria House, remarking on the historic connection with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, which originated in Britain in 1983.

Speaking about Nigeria’s significance, Pastor Adeboye highlighted God’s involvement in Nigeria’s history, suggesting a special divine connection.

He mentioned the significance of October 1st in the Biblical calendar as the “feast of trumpets,” a day some Bible scholars associate with a potential return of Jesus Christ. However, he clarified that the specific year remains unknown.

Drawing a parallel between Nigeria’s independence day and the Biblical date, Adeboye suggested that God might have influenced the choice of October 1st as Nigeria’s Independence Day.

He spoke on Nigeria’s turbulent history but expressed confidence in the nation’s resilience, emphasizing a promising future despite present challenges.

Concluding his message, Pastor Adeboye affirmed his belief in Nigeria’s unique position in God’s plan and encouraged the audience to remain hopeful for the nation’s future.
