The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has taken aggressive measures to expedite the registration process and remove any obstacles for potential candidates ahead of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). In order to provide a more seamless registration process when it officially starts, prospective applicants are advised to generate their profile codes in advance.
In order to make this procedure easier, candidates need to follow these guidelines: Text message (SMS) the recipient’s eleven-digit National Identity Number (NIN) to 55019 or 66019 from their personal GSM number, followed by a space. The SMS, for example, should be sent to 55019 or 66019 with the format “NIN 12345678901” (without the quote marks). It is important to remember that the candidate’s unique identifying number (NIN) should be entered.
Candidates will receive a ten-character profile code on the same phone number as the text message upon successful submission. It is crucial to stress that during the application, testing, and admissions processes, the candidate’s phone number will be connected to their identification.
Candidates are reminded that obtaining their National Identification Number (NIN) is a prerequisite for UTME/DE registration, in addition to the generation of their profile codes. A comprehensive post titled “NIN Application Guidelines and Requirements for JAMB 2024 Candidates” contains instructions on how to obtain the NIN.

Candidates are advised to exercise caution when applying henna, commonly referred to as “Laali” or “Lale.” It is recommended that candidates refrain from applying henna on their fingers to avoid any possible issues with biometric verification. There have been cases when henna application has impeded biometric verification, and attempts to use chemicals to remove henna designs have damaged finger whorls, making biometric verification challenging, if not impossible.
