Teni Tells Osimhen, Others To Exact Revenge For Nigerian Artists’ Grammy Loss In The South Africa Match

Teniola Apata, better known by her stage name Teni, is a Nigerian singer. She has urged the Super Eagles to give it their all when they play Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday in the semi-finals of the 2017 African Cup of Nations, or AFCON.

In an attempt to exact revenge for the loss of some Nigerian musicians at the hands of South African singer Tyla at the 66th Grammy Awards, she pleaded with star striker Victor Osimhen and his teammates to make sure they destroy the South Africans.

The lone non-Nigerian contender in the first Best African Music Performance category, Tyla, won the Grammy on Sunday, leaving the Nigerian quintet of Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake, and Olamide empty-handed. In response, Teni posted a video message on her social media pages pleading with the Super Eagles players to defeat South Africa in the semifinal match at Bouaké’s Stade de la Paix, in Cote D’Ivoire, in order to exact revenge for their countrymen’s Grammy loss.

There’s an issue, Grammy, she said. We host a lot of parties. Our groove is dead because of you.

“Water, Tyla, South Africa.” Okay. It’s [Victor] Osimhen’s turn. Lookman, here’s [Ademola]. South Africa, following your loss at the AFCON, you will dance the Amapiano. My groove was murdered by you. Why, Grammy?
