On February 2, 2024, Odunlade Adekola’s epic film Orisa will be available for viewing on Prime Video. The news was announced earlier today, Wednesday, January 31, 2024, by the official distributor, Film One, via an Instagram post. The movie takes place in a historic Yoruba city.

Ademola plays the title character, Orisa, a formidable warrior who teams up with a group of exceptionally talented fighters. Their evil deeds cause trouble for the city’s other criminal gangs as well as the king. Orisa and his group of warriors could face certain death when a mission goes awry and a sinister secret is revealed.

The story of the Yoruba language film, which debuted in theaters across the country on July 31, 2023, centers on a king who betrays his people and Gods, putting his realm in jeopardy.

Even though Barbie and Oppenheimer, two Hollywood blockbusters that came out on the same day, provided competition, the film’s opening week took home ₦27.6 million, breaking the record for the highest epic opening of the year.

Renowned performers including Femi Adebayo, Shaffy Bello, Jide Kosoko, Dele Odule, Muyiwa Ademola, and Eniola Ajao star in Adekola’s film Orisa.

Orisa left the box office after playing in theaters all throughout the country for 14 weeks, earning ₦127.89 million in total, according to the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN).
