Obama’s top 2023 musical selections include songs by Asake, Davido, and Tems.
The former US President posts a list of his top songs of the year, as he has done for the past few years.
Afrobeats had a few representatives on Barack Obama’s selection of his top songs from 2023, which he posted on December 29, 2023.
The list featured performers from America and other countries, including superstars Davido, Asake, Burna Boy, and Tems.

The list was made possible by Tems, an international Afrobeats sensation, and her single “Me & U,” one of her two releases in 2023.
Alongside Asake’s “Amapiano” starring Olamide, Davido’s massive song “Unavailable” featuring Musa Keys also reached the list. Not only do these songs rank among Obama’s favorites from 2023, but they were also nominated for a Grammy in 2024 for Best African Song Performance. Obama’s 2022 end-of-year list included Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” which is also nominated for the recently established Best African Song Performance.
