The ongoing rerun elections in the Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State, the Enugu South 1 State Constituency in Enugu State, and the Kunchi/Tsanyawa State Constituency in Kano State have been suspended due to disruptions, irregularities, and the kidnapping of election officials, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC.

This was revealed in a statement released on Saturday by Sam Olamekun, the chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee and national commissioner for INEC.
The commission stated that following its meeting on Monday, the required actions for the impacted constituencies will be made public. It demanded that security services look into the occurrences.
“Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom State”: Election materials were taken by thugs from two polling places, Village Hall, EdemUrua 003 in Ini LGA and Village Hall Mbiabong Ikot Udo 003 in Ikono LGA, causing the polls to be suspended.
“Enugu State, Enugu South 1 State Constituency.” Elections in all eight Polling Units will be suspended if voters cannot view the original results sheets prior to the start of the polls.Kano State: Kunchi/Tsanyawa State Constituency. Elections in all ten Kunchi LGA Polling Units have been suspended because to thugs’ disruption, vandalism, and invasion.
“The Commission’s judgment is in accordance with Section 24(3) of the 2022 Election Act. The Commission will declare any additional steps that are required for the impacted constituencies following its meeting on Monday.
The statement read, “The Commission pledges to thoroughly question any breaches involving its officials, and invites the security agencies to investigate the incidents.”
