Nigerian artist David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is nominated for a Grammy Award and claims he should have won it earlier.
At the 66th Grammy Awards, Davido—who had previously been passed over by the Recording Academy—was nominated three times.
Davido claimed in a recent interview with France 24 that he should have won 20 Grammy Awards by now, ahead of the 66th Grammy Awards ceremony.
“Shout-out to the Recording Academy,” declared Davido. It’s my first nomination ever, this one. Thus, receiving three at once is absurd.
“We put a lot of effort into this album, Timeless.” I simply have a lot of patience. I therefore already require 20 Grammys, should you ask me if I have ever deserved any. But as I mentioned earlier, God’s timing is ideal. We’ll watch to see what transpires.
The 66th Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
In the Best Global Music Performance and Best African Music Performance categories, respectively, Davido’s album “Timeless” is nominated. “Feel” and “Unavailable” are nominated in the Best Global Music Album category.
