The Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria, has officially launched the 2025 edition of the Federal Government Scholarship Award. This fully-funded scholarship opportunity is available to both undergraduate and postgraduate Nigerian students.
It is open to students currently studying at public or private universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria.
Successful candidates will receive a renewable annual cash grant of ₦300,000, irrespective of their social background or religious beliefs.

About the Federal Government Scholarship 2025
The Honourable Minister of Education (HME), Prof. Maman Tahir, invites all qualified and interested Nigerian students to participate in the 2025/2026 Nomination Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the Federal Government Scholarship Award.
The Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) oversees the administration of both local and international scholarships for deserving Nigerian students. It is also responsible for managing Multilateral Education Agreements, Bursary Awards, and Bilateral Education Agreements (BEA).
Eligibility Criteria for the Federal Government Scholarship
To be eligible for the Federal Government Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be full-time students enrolled at a Federal or State University.
- Hold at least a first degree with Second Class Honours (for postgraduate applicants).
- Be full-time students in their second year or above at a Federal or State University, Polytechnic, Monotechnic, or College of Education.
- Maintain a minimum CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or its equivalent, or 5.0 on a 7.0 scale (for undergraduate, HND, and NCE students).
- NCE/HND applicants must have at least a CGPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Not currently hold any other scholarship awards or be engaged in part-time studies.
- Commit to not changing their course or institution during the scholarship period.
Scholarship Duration and Value
The scholarship is awarded for study within Nigeria and is valid from the commencement of the academic session. The award value includes:
- Undergraduate Students: ₦250,000 annually
- Postgraduate Students: ₦300,000 annually
- HND Students: ₦150,000 annually
- NCE Students: ₦150,000 annually
