Finally, Governor Aiyedatiwa Names Deputy

The governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has formally declared his candidacy for deputy governor.
Olayide Owolabi Adelami, a native of Owo, Ondo State, was chosen by Aiyedatiwa.

He was born more over 60 years ago to Pa and Mrs. Amos Adelami, who were Oluka Oribokun’s parents.
Adelami attended The Polytechnic, Ibadan for his GCE A level and University of Lagos for his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration after graduating from the esteemed Imade College in Owo. He also graduated with an MBA from Ogun State University.

Young Adelami was enlisted into the Federal Civil Service as an Accountant II in December 1983 after completing the one-year National Youth Service Corps, or NYSC, requirement in June 1983.

He returned to work in the Accountant General of the Federation office’s Treasury Department. Later in 1988, he was sent to the National Assembly Provisional Office in Abuja, where he served as one of the first members of the Constituent Assembly that eventually became the National Assembly as we know it today.

Adelami had the unique opportunity to establish the National Assembly’s Finance and Accounts Department in the course of carrying out his duties.

He received an invitation to assist in the establishment of the Petroleum Special Trust Fund’s accounting department in 1996. He was requested to work at the Family Support Trust Fund after completing the chores, where he once more assisted in setting up the Finance and Accounts Department.

From 1996 to 2000, he oversaw these departments as their chief. Notably, Adelami’s service term coincided with the execution and delivery of the National Hospital, Abuja project.

In 2000, Adelami was brought back to the National Assembly in order to bolster the Department of Finance. He was promoted to Head of the Finance and Accounts Department three years later.

He held this role until 2007 when he received confirmation as a director. He received a nomination the next year for the esteemed National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, for a one-year senior management course.

Following his 2008 graduation from the Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, he took on a more significant assignment: leading the newly established Department of Procurement and Supplies. Adelami, who loves challenges, started the difficult process of staff training and raised the department to an admirable level despite not having a single member of staff with training in procurement procedures.

He received a promotion to the role of Secretary (Permanent Secretary) at the Directorate of Estate, Works, and Procurement in 2014. A role that he

ld until he was appointed as the Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly.

Chief Adelami’s compassionate nature deeply impacted the community, earning him the nickname “Husband of the Widows”.

Chief Adelami generously donated relief materials worth millions of naira to the internally displaced persons during the persistent unrest in Jos.

He provided financial support to the Rural Missionary fields, aiding in the establishment of places of worship in hard-to-reach regions such as Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa states.

Chief Adelami, who is involved with Prison Fellowship in Nigeria, devoted his time to serving the physical and spiritual needs of inmates. For a considerable amount of time, he served as the National Board of Trustees Prison Fellowship’s second vice chairman.
