Miss Nollywood International Unveils One-Year Development Plan, Seeks Media Support

The newly crowned Miss Nollywood International Beauty Queen, Hassana Ozohu Salisu, has outlined a comprehensive one-year development plan aimed at transforming Nigeria’s movie industry and positively impacting lives across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

Queen Salisu shared her vision on Sunday during a meeting with members of the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi State Council. As the 11th winner of the Miss Nollywood International Beauty Pageant, she emphasized her commitment to discovering new talents in the film industry who will serve as role models for a united Nigeria.

Soliciting media support, the beauty queen introduced her campaign slogan, “For the Love of My Nation.” Salisu expressed her desire to make history as Miss Nollywood International and outlined several ambitious projects she plans to undertake within the year. These initiatives include visiting correctional centers, schools, and hospitals, filling 64,000 potholes on Nigerian roads, and empowering thousands of youths and women. She also aims to champion the protection of the rights of young girls and address social issues such as corruption, ethnic divisiveness, hate speech, kidnapping, armed robbery, sex-for-grades scandals, nepotism, examination malpractice, drug abuse, and other vices.

“I want to inspire a personal sense of responsibility and patriotism in every Nigerian,” Salisu said. “When we all love our nation, we can collectively say no to corruption and other social ills. I call on the media, as the fourth estate of the realm, to support my vision of building the Nigeria we all dream of. This is about more than just Nollywood; it’s about projecting a positive image of our country in everything we do.”

Queen Salisu expressed her openness to collaboration, noting that her passion for giving back to society has been her driving force for years.

Orits Gee, the CEO of Omedia Nigeria Limited and newly appointed manager of Miss Nollywood International, described Salisu as a symbol of beauty, knowledge, and philanthropy. “Miss Hassana Ozohu Salisu is a beacon of hope for younger generations,” he said. “Her determination to make Kogi State proud in the Bayelsa competition has paid off. Her one-year plan will bring about positive change, and all she needs from the media is the publicity to ensure her activities are successful.”

Segun Salami, Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Kogi State Council, pledged the union’s support for the queen’s initiatives, stating that the media is ready to work with her to ensure the success of her development plans.

Hassana Ozohu Salisu, crowned Miss Nollywood International 2024 after competing against 18 contestants from across Nigeria, represents Kogi State with pride. Born on November 24, 1998, Salisu is an undergraduate at Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic and holds a variety of certifications, including one from the Chartered Institute of Procurement Studies (2021-2023) and a diploma in Filmmaking from Mina Film Academy. She recently completed a certification in Transitional Film Projects from Bournemouth University, London, in 2023, and is pursuing further studies in journalism.

As the first child in a family of six, Salisu’s commitment to community development is evident in her work. She founded the Sallhassy Empowerment Foundation, which has launched two successful humanitarian projects. Additionally, she manages over 130 actors under Sallhassy Empire Entertainment and serves as chairperson of the Northern Filmmakers Association of Nigeria, Abuja State chapter.

Salisu’s thoughtful responses during the pageant demonstrated her passion for the film industry and her desire to enact positive societal change. Her commitment to collaboration reflects her determination to give back to her community and industry.

The Miss Nollywood International pageant, now in its 11th edition, is one of Nigeria’s most prestigious beauty contests, and Salisu’s reign promises to leave a lasting impact on the nation.
