General Qualification Requirements

Candidates applying for roles in Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Chemical Pathology, Morbid Anatomy and Histopathology, Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Medical Microbiology and Parasitology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, and Radiology must hold an MBBS plus Fellowship or MBBS with MSc and PhD, where applicable.

Position-Specific Requirements

1. Professor

• Minimum of Second Class Lower in First Degree
• Master’s and PhD (or MBBS + Fellowship/PhD) in relevant discipline
• Minimum of 12 years teaching and research experience
• Minimum of 26 publications (40% offshore, 40% lead author)
• Google Scholar profile with strong citation metrics
• At least 3 years as Reader/Associate Professor
• Advantage: Record of winning research grants as Principal Investigator

2. Associate Professor / Reader

• Similar to Professor role, with at least 9 years of experience
• Minimum of 22 publications (40% offshore, 40% lead author)
• 3 years as Senior Lecturer required

3. Senior Lecturer

• At least 15 publications (30% offshore, 30% lead author)
• 3 years as Lecturer I
• Proven record of research or grants (Principal/Co-Investigator)

4. Lecturer I

• Minimum 8 publications in reputable journals
• Google Scholar, Scopus, and ResearchGate profiles required
• 3 years as Lecturer II
• MBBS + Fellowship/PhD holders are exempt from publication requirements

5. Lecturer II

• PhD in relevant discipline
• Master’s with professional license may be considered
• Academic profiles on Google Scholar, Scopus, ResearchGate required
• Published articles an added advantage

6. Assistant Lecturer

• Master’s degree and Second Class Lower or above in relevant field

7. Technologist I/II & Clinical Instructors

• BSc or HND with Second Class Lower
• Must have a valid professional practice license
