1. Emergency Preparedness and Response Lead

Job Summary:

The Emergency Preparedness & Response (EP&R) Lead will oversee the coordination of EP&R activities, providing functional guidance to ensure a high level of preparedness. This role aims to enhance the organization’s EP&R capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong EP&R competencies to coordinate activities across the Nigeria Business Unit, offering flexibility and career growth within the Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Organization. The position is based in Lagos, with expectations to visit sites to assess Emergency Response capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the focal point for emergency preparedness and response, leading the development of functional guidance in areas such as emergency response, business continuity, and oil spill response.
  • Lead and develop Response Teams’ support activities, including training and exercises.
  • Develop functional guidance and training for emergency preparedness and response personnel.
  • Promote and lead networks or communities of practice for emergency preparedness and response, oil spill response, and business continuity.
  • Apply analytical approaches to assess and improve the health of Emergency Response mitigative safeguards at the asset level or higher.
  • Design and lead major exercises and assessments, such as business line and regional exercises and OIMS/EPR assessments.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of formal emergency response/business continuity plan training, including leadership training, Incident Management (ICS), and Advanced Emergency Support Group (ESG).
  • Promote and lead risk or capability assessments to validate emergency response and business continuity preparedness.
  • Monitor external environments through participation in trade associations and benchmarking efforts, applying learnings across sites.
  • Coordinate communication of company positions on emergency preparedness and response matters through trade groups, industry forums, or directly to government agencies when appropriate.
  • Facilitate the global application of company EPR standards, advocacy, best practices, processes, tools, and procedures within business units.
  • Leverage EP&R subject matter expertise and ExxonMobil’s scale and experience via EP&R networks to address unstructured problems throughout the value chain.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering. A higher degree in Risk/Safety Engineering is advantageous.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in EP&R coordination within the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Experience with consequence assessment modeling tools, like PHAST, is beneficial.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, particularly in technical and business communications.

  • Ability to describe the benefits of specific response options for various spill scenarios, including weather windows and environmental conditions for spill response equipment.
