Recruitment at Benin Electricity Distribution Plc. (BEDC) is one of the licensed retail electricity distribution companies in Nigeria. Also known as Benin Disco, BEDC was established as one of the successor companies following the unbundling and privatization of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc.
BEDC is responsible for electricity distribution across Delta, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo States, covering a geographical area of 55,770 square kilometers. The company operates through 25 business districts and manages over 350 offices serving approximately 13 million people and 4 million households.
Current Vacancies
Job Title: Cable Jointer
Locations: Delta, Edo, and Ondo
Job Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in fault resolution and prompt feeder restoration
- Proper usage and maintenance of power tools, testing, and measuring instruments
- Identify various power cables and multi-core control cables
- Prepare cables with appropriate sheathing systems and accessories for jointing
- Perform jointing and termination of copper or aluminum conductor cables using soldering, mechanical, or compression techniques
- Apply insulation techniques using heat shrink tubing or cold mix compounds
- Lay power cables above ground or in trenches per applicable standards
- Terminate power cables on switchboards, transformers, panels, and lines
- Reduce outage durations by responding quickly to faults
- Perform preventive maintenance on 33kV and 11kV outdoor and indoor breakers
- Install and terminate cables at injection substations and install R.M.U. feeder pillars
- Ensure the proper use of safety equipment and PPE
- Supervise apprentices or semi-skilled workers to maintain safety and quality standards
Requirements:
- Minimum qualification: SSCE, Trade Test, or OND in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2–5 years experience in a similar role
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Integrity and advanced troubleshooting skills
- Team-oriented, able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Job Title: Protection, Control and Metering (PC&M) Engineer
Locations: Delta and Ondo
Job Description:
- Supervise major electrical installations and preventive maintenance of transformers under 1MVA
- Act as supervisory engineer at injection substations and perform condition monitoring
- Analyze reports and design documents using computer-assisted tools
- Conduct preventive maintenance and periodic testing on power transformers, CTs, VTs, DTRs, and related infrastructure
- Interpret circuit diagrams, set up battery banks, and manage DC/AC systems
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair relay/control equipment (e.g., protective relays, meters, breakers)
- Develop protection and control system documents including single-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules
- Perform technical studies, relay coordination, transformer oil analysis, and ensure maintenance record accuracy
- Provide construction support and procurement guidance related to protective controls
- Mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with substation maintenance schedules
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 2–5 years of experience in a similar position; professional certification is an added advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Strong strategic thinking, troubleshooting, and leadership capabilities
- Awareness of industry trends and technology applications
- Adaptability, critical thinking, and strong communication skills

Job Title: Electrical Fitter
Locations: Edo and Ondo
Job Description:
- Conduct maintenance and overhauling of distribution equipment like transformers and circuit breakers
- Perform mechanical fitting and assembly for power equipment, including fabrication tasks
- Maintain equipment and accessories at injection substations
- Repair 11kV and 33kV circuit breakers and identify faults in electrical installations
- Maintain RMU bushings and treat oil in both power and distribution transformers
- Use personal protective equipment and ensure safe work practices
- Train apprentices or semi-skilled workers in maintaining safety and quality
- Maintain and properly use power tools
Requirements:
- SSCE, Trade Test, or OND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 2–5 years experience in a similar position
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask, troubleshoot, and work collaboratively under pressure
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
