The Nasarawa State Government, in its commitment to easing the financial burden of its indigenes enrolled in tertiary institutions across Nigeria, is offering scholarships and bursaries.

The Nasarawa State Scholarship Board (NSSB), operating under the Ministry of Education, is the designated body responsible for collecting, processing, screening applications, and recommending them for approval and disbursement by the Governor.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board, over 10,000 indigenes have benefited from the scheme as part of efforts to support students through the current economic challenges facing the country.

Types of Scholarships Offered by NSSB:

  1. Nasarawa State Scholarship Bursary: This is an annual financial award to Nasarawa State indigenes in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
  2. Federal Scholarship Board (Local): A joint scholarship program by the Federal Government and the Nasarawa State Government, open to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  3. International Scholarships: Sponsored by the Nasarawa State Government, this allows eligible indigenes to study at foreign universities.
  4. Bilateral Scholarships: These are scholarships awarded based on bilateral agreements between foreign governments (e.g., China) and the Nasarawa State Government.
