On the Abakaliki–Onueke–Afikpo Expressway, a fuel-laden tanker burst, killing two people.
On Saturday in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Mr. Igwe Nnabuife, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, verified the occurrence to reporters.
According to Nnabuife, the vehicle near the airport junction axis of the highway caught fire on Friday at approximately 8:20 p.m. It was carrying Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as gasoline.
There was just one car involved. The vehicle was so badly burned that we were unable to determine the registration number.
“On fatalities, one person had critical injuries and two people died. The deceased have been transported to the Abakaliki, Alex-Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital.
The Sector Commander stated, “The injured person was taken to Onueke General Hospital, Ezza-South Local Government Area of Ebonyi.”
